Nara Japanese Restaurant (Serangoon Gardens)

Curiosity and hunger for some japanese cuisine led us wandering into this shop tucked away among the shophouses in serangoon gardens. we ordered a ramen and a sashimi rice set.
below are the pictures:

nice japanese ambience :)

yummy ramen

salad (part of sashimi rice set)

sashimi!

miso soup

chawanmushi

watermelon served as a nice finishing touch to the meal

This shop is indeed an interesting find, especially since it is tucked away in a remote area. The japanese ambience of the restaurant was rather unique and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the food served here was quite delicious. In particular, the sashimi was rather fresh, and i will definitely be back for more. :)

life

sometimes, people ask jie jie "how does it feel to be you?" and proceeded to give her the wistful look.

she would then give them this -_-" look (in singapore terms, the "sian diaoz" look).

grass is always greener on the other side, but on further close speculation, maybe the grass is not that green afterall. Lessons in life have taught jie jie to be optimistic, but never overly-optimistic. Optimism works as a double-edged sword. If you are too overly-optimistic, more often than not, you will tend to feel a greater sense of depression if things don't turn out the way you want it to be. If you are too pessimistic, it will be like lugging a heavy burden on yourself and we all know that worrying gets one nowhere.

hmm, wondering-how-it-is-like-to-be-jie jie,

Waraku Japanese Casual Dining

with coupons armed, we excitedly headed for waraku japanese casual dining restaurant, located at the first floor of marina square. do bear in mind that this store ought not to be mixed up with pasta de waraku, which is another outlet under the same parent company.

jie jie, being the blur sotong as usual, brought us to pasta de waraku on the third floor, when we were supposed to go to waraku japanese casual dining. it was only when we showed the waiter our coupon did we realize that we had made a terrible mistake! imagine jie jie's embarrassment! ;) luckily, we had not placed any order and we quickly excused ourselves to head towards the correct destination.

waraku japanese casual dining restaurant is located on the first floor of marina square, in a rather quiet hidden corner of the shopping centre. moreover, the place has a nice "jap-pish" ambiance to it and i love it!

anyway, here are some of the pictures of the food that we ordered:

udon set

assorted sashimi don

as you can probably see, the food looks good. taste wise, it is not too bad.
i love the noodles served :) as for the sashimi, i guess i would rather go elsewhere for it.

The Marmalade Pantry

The marmalade pantry serves one of the most yummilicious crab meat linguine.
Just thinking about it is enough to make me salivate. :p
Here are a couple of pictures taken of the food:

Crab meat Linguine
(with pine nuts, tomatoes and chilli) - $22

Pumpkin Creme Brulee
(With chocolate banana popsicles) - $12

Doesn't the food look lovely?
Personally, i prefer the main course to the dessert.
This is especially so since the pumpkin creme brulee was not much to my liking.
Nonetheless, i will still attempt to try out other types of dessert, particularly the cakes, in my next visit.
